About me
Having spent a decade teaching English at secondary school level, I have always appreciated the power of stories.
Storytelling is at the heart of Irish culture, gifting us unique and special ways of telling tales: sometimes with more colour than the story might deserve! Whatever the purpose, I love the way in which they bring people together.
Whilst taking a career break from teaching to pursue travel opportunities, I found myself in some fascinating cultures in remote corners of the world. At their core, each community valued the importance of stories for information, history and education. Quite simply, people sharing, celebrating and remembering in the presence of one another's company.
During these adventures, a good friend floated the prospect of me training to be a celebrant. After applying for a training programme, I never looked back, finding it an invigorating and exciting departure.
Appreciating the importance of a celebrant's role and putting value in field research, throughout my travels I met with various celebrants in places ranging from Mallorca to Maui to Tokyo and even Easter Island! Observing different styles, along with some stunning wedding venues to match, I gained further insight into how I wanted to conduct ceremonies.
So, in a full circle progression, I chose to base my approach to upon stories.
Sharing the incredible highs, the difficult challenges or the 'right-place-at-the-right-time' moments involved in relationships, these important cornerstones deserve to be told respectfully. Weaving a creative and engaging narrative is my aspiration when entrusted to tell your story.
Each couple's story will differ greatly, but the real skill resides in delivering it in an honest and relatable manner. A unique tale deserves to be told by someone who can do it justice.
